I'd found 4chan in 2006 and had been getting too comfortable with saying whatever I wanted instead of the enforced politeness on forums. I got a 3 day ban or something for referring to Somalians as skinnies in an off-topic thread. It was like a switch flipped in my 17yo brain and I thought "fuck this" and never looked back.
4chan, IRC, all the other *chans that are now mostly dead. It's been a wild ride. All that's really left is 4chan and when this place finally closes (that day will come eventually), the old internet will finally be dead. Now I'm sad.
