The staging area alone to protect just the homestead has a trench next to the road to the west with a lovely hill to pull machine gun nests to plow any unlucky fucker trying to cross the trench and the east has yet another hill ripe for sharpshooters. The south would be barbed wire and land mines scattered about the destroyed homes. The terrain in the north and south are all pretty treacherous after the property lines so the whole area is just begging for any infantry in the area to get arty fucked.
