WHAT'S DUCKWORTH'S PROBLEM?
Chalk up another district mayor Democratic CD-6 candidate Tammy Duckworth has aggravated in the past two weeks.
Today it's Elmhurst Mayor Tom Marcucci. That's because Duckworth stayed away from a candidate forum today sponsored by the city's Chamber and Kiwanis clubs.
It's the second in two weeks. Last week, Duckworth ducked a similar opportunity to discuss issues with Addison's Mayor Larry Hartwig and her opponent Republican Peter Roskam.
Duckworth is appearing more and more like a Manchurian-type candidate -- one who is programmed and protected, and one who is either personally uncomfortable with defending her positions on issues or shielded from potentially embarrassing public situations.
What other conclusion can the constituents of the 6th CD come to?
Either way, it's politically stupid for a congressional candidate to intentionally blow off district mayors. . . but her DCCC chairman Rahm Emanuel has little or no experience dealing with disturbed local mayors. . . he's part of the Daley clan.
Duckworth should be careful heeding Emanuel's counsel if he's telling her to continue blowing off local elected officials and district organizations.
What exactly is her problem?
