Synpatic pruning may be related to habitual behaviours and addictions. Autistics do not prune their synpases often. Because of this, they prefer to do the same behaviours over and over because that is how their brain is currently configured. It takes longer for their brains to “rewire”, so once they get addicted to something, it is very hard to get them unaddicted. If they are used to going to the same shop, they get annoyed when they have to change. Their brain doesn’t adapt quickly. Female brains on the other hand do adapt quickly, they are more malleable, conformist and spontaneous.
Autistic people are not hyperactive. They are very good at focusing, unless they also have ADHD. People with ADHD are terrible at focusing. It is quite common for people to have both conditions as they are largely male conditions and relate to optimal hunting and foraging in some way.
