I think that all it comes down to is just getting as much money as possible out of the target demographic, all designed by the ones who thought of it simply before others could.
No idea if it has actually worked for them since I don't follow the whole ordeal, but I'm just assuming that it has, knowing people. The fad will likely pass by as any other, you could even just look at them like the hybrids of today. They'll still be around and some people will throw money towards it, but in the end they're not gonna be anything genuinely influential and replace what already works. And if they do, then that'd just be really surprising.
