>>19593618Despite her discomfort, Carmody's face breaks out in a smile too. Seeing Sola's smile, and her eagerness to welcome her inside, brings a sharp and powerful feeling rising in Carmody's chest. She's weak, vulnerable, dirty, and unkempt right now, at her worst state, offering nothing and asking much. And yet Sola is just glad to see her, welcoming her in without a moment's hesitation, offering her what little she has.
Sola Fire loves her.
Carmody understood this on some level before. But now, standing before Sola, looking at her smile, she FEELS it.
Sola Fire loves her.
>"I'm really happy I'm here too, Sola." Carmody steps forward and hugs Sola yet again. Her skin is warm. The scent of her shampoo is reassuring. The throbbing in Carmody's head melts into the back of her consciousness, and she thinks of nothing but the comfort of Sola's presence. Carmody had rejected, and was rejected by, Paule, and the future of any friendship she might have with Kanako is tenuous at best. Worse, she was cast out of the place she'd come to feel was her home by her own sister. Now she finds herself welcomed, accepted, and LOVED without question or condition, by the woman she herself has come to love.
She tries not to hug Sola so long that she makes it weird, but doesn't quite succeed. She smiles at Sola when they part, and the corners of her eyes are wet.
