Pros
- Nice relaxed culture. Generally good, down to earth people
- High standard of living, very few homeless people
- Not very corrupt
- Good nightlife
- Reasonably safe, even at night
- Chill cops
- Easy to get an Australian Business Number and legally run a business
- You can live the American dream here, if you want. It's basically America, but done better
- Sometimes you see Koalas/Kangaroos and other neat wildlife
- Good coffee
Mixed or depends on perspective
- Can get by on free government money. It's a pittance, but it's livable if you get cheap accommodation away from the city and you don't have any major expenses. Work for the dole is now a thing where most people will need to work a shitty job for the money, though you can get out of it if you have (or "have") mental or physical health issues.
- Legal or mostly legal prostitution depending on state
- Gay marriage = yes. The majority of Australians support this
- Wide range of races, not just white people. People are fairly accepting of pretty much any race with the possible exception of arabs, but even arabs do alright.
- Weed is still illegal, but if you're caught with it you'll just get a fine and a slap on the wrist, no criminal record unless you have way too much.
- Food is just okay. There is a lot of variety and some good stuff if you know where to look, but most is pretty average imo
- High minimum wage. Great if you get a job, but it's difficult to get low skill, low pay work, even if you want it, unless you're a teenager. There are some legal loopholes for this and some people get paid cash in hand, but generally if you wanna get anywhere you need an education
- If you go to uni you will accrue thousands of dollars of government debt. You only need to pay it back once you earn over a particular income threshold.
Cons
- Not the best economic times
- You may hit a kangaroo while driving
- You may see a big spider
- You are legally obligated to shitpost on a daily basis
