>>14635477yeah i really have a strong aversion to all Golden Dawn, OTO, Crowley current thelemic occultism. just like a magnetic repulsion. it's not for me, it feels tainted. the people who made it were into some fucked up stuff and by participating in that tradition i feel like i'm party to the karmic baggage. i avoid it entirely.
>>14635476100% sticking to the primary texts is the way to go. but one has to be careful about which ones. i believe us 21st century occultists have a tendency to think that anything older than about 50 years is "real" or "authentic" when the truth is actually that a lot of this stuff was created as puzzles, or to mislead, or intentionally encoded so that it could only be passed from master to apprentice. Israel Regardie, for example, Rene Guenon, Franz Bardon, all the theosophists...Eliphas Levi famously mixed up the symbols...the Rosicrucians deliberately made their works impossible to decipher, same with the Alchemists for sure, the Grail mythology and courtly allegorical poetry. I like the hermetica, greek magical papyri, gnostic gospels. whatever resonates i guess. i think we all have an inner compass.
