>>20058951As to joining the union if I go to Warrior, I have heard mixed things about it. Warrior produces 8 million clean tons per year, making it one of the most -- if not the most -- productive met coal mining complex in the world. So those union boys must be working and doing something right. And I do like union protections.
I just don't like the abuses of union freedoms I've seen in the past. So if I go to Warrior, I'll scope things out and see for myself how the union guys behave. If they're decent for the most part (there are always some bad apples, union or non-union), then I'll join. If I don't like what I see, I won't join.
I am not opposed, at all, to labor unions in general, particularly for skilled workers in heavy industry, which is intrinsically hazardous. I just don't like how decadent some unions have become (nor how decadent much management has become!). So I'll wait and see. I'll have around 90 days to join the union anway.
