Corn Girl twists off a particularly large ear of corn. She assesses it's quality and determines that it's an A5 Grade ear in accordance to the bylaws and standards of the USCGA (United States Corn Grading Association).
She stares at the ear of corn. Though Cornell Family Farms is lauded and heralded as one of the premier corn growers in not only Corn Town but in the whole of the United States, A5 Grade cobs only make up 3% of the farm's harvest. As such, a single cob can fetch a quite a hefty price at market.
As Corn Girl prepares the corn for storage, tears well up in her eyes. She turns and starts digging a hole in the ground.
>This one's for the homies that we lost in the struggle.
>For Miss Sapphire.
Corn Girl buries the ear of corn. She says a prayer. She looks up at the sky turns her gaze towards the horizon.
An infinite azure of gentle blue, streaked with white foam meets the radiant gold of the fields. These were Sapphire's colors.
>For Jennifer.
