I watched the entire thing. I'm a huge matrix fan.

The start of the movie was good - what is reality? I thought they were finally going to show that the "real world" was just another level of control and still inside the matrix. It would explain how neo was able to halt sentinels in real life.

they didn't do that, and the entire movie felt kind of blah. The action scenes were mostly repeats of previous battles. Nothing had the same impact of the original neo vs smith battle in the subway.

It felt like they had a focus group on how to make this movie and they included focus group notes in the movie.

Underwhelmed, but at least the woke stuff wasn't pushed heavily.

There was plenty to discuss about the original matrix, but if you watch the 4th episode, there is really not a lot to talk about. I think that is really all that you need to say about it.

It just resets things to where things were after matrix 1. You're still in prison, nothing is better.

I just finished it 5 minutes ago. I was bummed out by the lack of gnostic messaging. I liked the idea that the matrix is still the matrix but is now full of literal NPCs that gaslight PCs and saddle them with just enough to lose that they don't try for a fulfilling life.

The last 5 minutes were fucking cancer though and there was a lot of dead end content. The analyst cares about the cat but the cat is not explained or used except for an homage to the deja vu hallway cat. The last minutes where Trinity becomes the One without even seeing the real world is just a fuck you to the first 3 movies and is there to erase NEO as a messiah figure. The analyst is there to erase demiurge notions with the architect and to make it look like the machines elected him. Agent Smith also makes no sense and is unresolved.

Oh and of course painting the fucking sky with rainbows.

First half an hour was weak, very week.
It picked up a bit after that but it felt kind of cheap, like made for TV cheap.
Full of 'remember this line' or 'remember this scene' moments.
Io city and new reality exposition were the best part.
Trinity rescue mission was cheap again, like they tried to make something that resembled the originals but ended up with weak imitation.
Neo conveniently 'forgot' how to fly and his catch-the-bullets force field got very limited for dramatic purposes.
Basically no one was a real character besides the original cast.
No one died despite the odds and the whole 'we never fought against a swarm like this'.
Agent Smith was a disappointment and Morpheus became random nigger pimp for some reason.
All in all 6/10 for old time's sake.
Also it looks like a start of another trilogy.

I'm actually at a loss for words. This is the worst movie ever made without fucking question. A great example of the decline of mainstream film making when a director and franchise with some of the most famous and best action and fight scenes ever is reduced to this. It's like they made this movie to retroactively ruin the matrix movies. Especially the fucking tranny cover of Wake Up is just the final kick in the fucking balls to the Matrix.
I'm honestly done with western media at this point and am ready to watch foreign stuff, even anime.

Again, only thing that really stuck out to me was the initial message in the beginning, they really took me by surprise when they started calling out woke shit, people looking for deep meaning in stupid fiction, and a focus on fiction replacing reality...then proceded to butcher their own message by doing exactly that. They should have cut the movie to 45 minutes and left it as is, would have made a much stronger message.

From the second I saw blue problem hair and puffy, "communist" problem pants show up I knew that it was gonna be horrendously bad, and I was not disappointed. Not quite. This is a new matrix made around Neo and Trinity’s “code”. Neo was the messiah figure in the prior matrix but still exhibits some of his power in the new one but it’s shared with her. She flies first but they’re both flying independently at the very end.
