i love british people, but i hate bri'ish people. what i mean by this, is that i love the sensible british people who don't force their culture onto me, who allow things to be as they are, and don't try to assert anything other than a tasteful, yet passive influence. bri'ish people, on the otherhand, are empty soulless husks who have nothing in their lives but to cling onto these ideas of "bri'ish" refinement and culture, and take every waking moment to remind you of how "bri'ish" they are by obnoxiously letting everyone know that they are sipping tea, that they love pudding and puddi puddi memes, that they get ripped off for daily essentials at lidl, and that they still eat like they're in wartime.
i'm not fucking bri'ish, the world over isn't entirely culturally congruent with bri'ish values. i'm not trying to pretend that i want to be bri'ish, unless if i'm memeing. i love britain and her culture, but sometimes having it shoved in my face is something that quickly becomes obnoxious. i get that people need their sense of belonging, but why force it onto me? at least give me a choice.
