I liked the early castlevanias for the difficulty and good level design, which is sadly and admittedly lost in the later entries, but i fell in love with the metroidvanias because they capitalised on the aesthetic with beautiful art and musical composition that made a lasting impression me, Dracula's castle in symphony of the night might not have the best level design in a video game but it was brimming with such detail and care that made it feel like you were truly inside a giant victorian mansion and i appreciate that. i aspire to be able to create Paintings like Ayami Kojima one of these days.
i get why you would dislike the new character design because they are effimenate and i hear westerners really hate that, but i find them very aesthetically pleasing.
