Furries are, however, often very interested in transhumanism and many would change species if it's possible in their lifetime.
I should mention fursuiting here of course: It's not an expression of wanting to be a different species so much as the adoption of a whole new identity that can be whatever the person wants. People feel free to behave totally differently when in a fursuit since there's a layer of fur between them and the outside world, and fursuits attract a lot of attention, so fursuits can make even introverts into the biggest extroverts.
In short, people often fursuit in order to get attention as a character while drawing no attention to their human form.
