>>2756648>but to say Rebuild is an anti-Rei project when it would have been no trouble at all to introduce Asuka by the 30 minute mark of the first movie and to all but eliminate Rei entirely from Rebuild 3 To debase someone or something, you spend time attacking that someone or something. It is the most effective way, and it's what all the professionals do. You need to spend more time in introducing and then sabotaging Rei than you do e.g playing up Asuka.
The second point is that to truly attack Rei, you must first ensure the audience that this is the Rei they know, and what better way to do that than copy 1.0? For what it's worth, they introduced Kaworu in the first movie.
>I don't think it has ever been questioned that Evangelion is Shinji's story. So why are you bringing it up? My point stands: Rebuild relates to Rei narratively, but does not let Rei act. The original had Rei herself act, and 1.11, 2.22, 3.33 let Asuka/Misato/Kaworu act, Rei here is the exception. They are not written out.
>Rei's condition in Rebuild 3 is really no different than Asuka being in a coma for part of the original series. It is different for the following reasons:
- A movie is not an episode, and makes up a huge part of the overall story.
- Asuka's coma was a character-based, built spiral into destruction that Asuka acted out every step of the way. Rei was just written out and then degraded by everyone else.
>All that said, the point of Rei not being able to make a decision on her own at the start of Rebuild 3 is what makes Rei's ability to now ask quesitons and make decisions after re-meeting Shinji important. This being Rei Q and not Rei, and that Rei Q has no background means your argument is meaningless. What you wrote makes no sense whatsoever. It has no buildup, it has no basis in story or character, it is bullshit on every single level.
