nice work. they say that spraypaint weakens the plastic but on bike helmets the plastic just keeps the foam from getting scraped off, it doesn't actually protect your head like a skateboard helmet. and even if you sprayed a skateboard helmet, it'd probably be fine, it's probably just a lawyer thing they're required to say.

could be an issue, could be the existing stem is too long with the existing bars for your particular reach. I swapped out drops for swept but my old bike had a long stem and it worked better with the swept for me.

So I replaced the valve on my tubeles tire and noticed it leaked about 20 PSI overnight.

I haven't put any new sealant is this why it might be leaking? Or could the valve no be on tight enough?

Could be the valve. Give 'er the ol soapy spray anywhere you think it's bad and watch the suds.
If they ballon out at all there is your culprit.

Double check the bead too if you are saying you replaced the whole valve, if just the presta core I would tighten it. Sometimes sealent can clog up the threaded part of the core.

You have to smash those things into the rim, it’s probably not right enough (I smash against the valve from the inside using a tire lever while tightening the nut at the same time)

Should I buy trek domane al2 gen 4 for $1500 cad? I tried it and I loved riding it but that much money for claris seems like a lot? It comes with a carbon fork though.

My Shimano R501 wheels on my rim brake road bike have worn out. Before I replace them with an identical pair (€120), are there any superior alternatives at a similar price I should consider? I use this bike primarily for commuting with the odd club race on the side, so the priorities are braking performance and durability first, but lightness is not unappreciated.

Nah. Unless you like digging for used deals(and have good ones nearby) shimano oem wheels are the best value per dollar. Especially if the old ones lasted well for you.

Whatever has a wide platform and decent threaded studs for grip. Cheap molded plastic pedals are harder to use your hamstrings and more muscles which just makes them shittier.
Nice flats allow you to ride almost as efficient as clipless, just with any shoe you own(yay).

The forte convert is a great cheap pedal. I have it on many bikes and it has withstood dj/dh mtbing.

IDK. Genuinely ask them. As someone with a similar....girth... I find some wheels I just have to true more, and increase the spoke tension.
This sucks, when I have other wheels were I might have to true them 1/10 as often.
I would suspect that's the issue.

if you really like it you should.
value for money wise i'd go for an entry level rim brake bike instead instead of cable disks, or spend extra for hydraulic disks. claris r2000 works fine.

No, it means they can't be relied upon to fulfil their intended use case. Their maximum dynamic load with you riding them will be below that of an in-spec rider. You would have to be many times above the specified weight limit to destroy the wheels under a static load.

I did yeah. Love the way it looks and rides. But I also haven't ridden a lot of road bikes. Actually only 3, and 2 of which were vintage road bikes which I did not find very comfortable.

I don't know much about them, but I do know that there are super long posts and stems to make them fit.
I would look at the manufacturer to see what they recommend sizing wise. Either way I would focus on your optimal leg extension, and be oaky with a shorter reach since most mini-velos are designed for a mtb/sit-up seating position.

I accidently ordered a down tube protector instead of a chainstay protector
I can just slap it on the chainstay and it will do the work right? or will it dissolve in a week and I lose my sanity trying to remove it

most people just wrap an old inner tube or handlebar wrap around the chainstay. I've cut out the plastic from a 2 litre bottle and zip tied it on. if your derailleur cable is unhoused along there then just make sure you wrap/tie between it rather than sandwiching it to the chainstay. my, uh... friend did that by accident once.
if the cable's in housing then just wrap over it.

Should I feel bad that I average 10 mph on my rides? I ride a mtn bike on a paved bike trail, usually for 10-30 miles. Mostly flat. It always feels like a workout though.
Heard that a proper road bike will easily bump my avg speed up to 15 mph, but I kind of doubt those claims. Then again, I've never ridden a rode bike in my life.

you can just buy slick tires for the mtb. you will be shocked at how much faster they are. also lock out all the suspension if you can and inflate tires to near the limit written on them.
