when I did what you're doing, first I tried a cheap "northroads" bar which has rise and sweep and the bends are a slight forward position. I put cruiser brakes on and took my old drop brakes and clamped the hoods with the levers popped out to the bends and wrapped them fat for more forward position.
I wanted more forward so I got pic related, a trekking style spinacci by Cinelli. they had discontinued them but I heard they are made again? they wouldn't fit inbetween the northroads bends so I got this other bar. works perfectly for me. but I kept the DT shifters.
