once you take away effort human psyche changes completely and they start riding like idiots. go as fast as possible, brake as late as possible, become a public menace #1. most of those "time savings" people rave about aren't from e-bikes actually being much faster, it's because e-bikes don't offer a choice between lazy and fast, they give both, and people who can't control themselves take both. without a natural limiter, those people need an imposed one.
