I just bought one of these off a work colleague, it's in bits but apparently everything is there, he tried to use the front fork on a different bike before finding out it wasn't compatible, gave up and bought a new bike, he got it for free with a car he bought a few years ago and it's barely been used, just a few months on road usage, no off road at all, it's been in his garage for at least 3 years, I paid £50 for it.
I won't be picking it up until next week, when I get it I'll post some close up shots of the various components etc, in the meantime what can you tell me about it from picrel?
Can't seem to find too much info on it, no doubt it's a third party cheapo bike with Ford branding.
Don't really know what I want to do with it, I'm a bit worried about the front forks as he admits he got completely confused and mixed up all the various pieces including the bearings from both bikes, so he's giving me several bits that come from the other bike. Apart from that the frame, wheels, gears, brakes etc are all supposedly in excellent order.
Looking for any suggestions you may have, I never did anything like this before but I really like the idea of stripping it all down, repainting the frame, perhaps upgrading a few of the parts and components and turning it into some kind of gravel bike, maybe with a 1 x 8/9 gear set up and drop handlebars... or maybe something else entirely. I already have a daily rider for my commute so there's no rush and would really like to hear what you guys think.
