I was very surprised to learn that literally the first naturally-STABLE airplane in the world (pic related) was tailless. After that, though, tailless aircraft seem to have gone out of style. Why? Are they that much harder to design? Do they have major drawbacks that I'm missing? Wouldn't they be able to generate insane amounts of lift for their weight?
