Bielefeld Stadtbahn is currently getting a new terminal station for its radial line 4.
The new station is called Dürkopp Tor 6. It's a raised platform with a single track only a few hundred meters away from the current line 4 endpoint, Rathaus.
The advantages will mostly be operational, as currently line 4 occupies a turning track right at on the trunk line for several minutes at the end of each trip. The turning track was originally intended to be used for additional trains and in case of blocked tracks.
At the same time, the eastern half of line 3 is currently being adapted for the newer, wider GTZ8-B rolling stock. Raised platforms are also being constructed at existing stops. Thus, line 3 currently ends just a few meters shy of the upcoming terminus of line 4 - pic related.
