On a less depressing note: I have a very fond memory of a Singapore Airlines 747.
As a young kid we flew to Australia from my nothern EU country. Travelling across half the world as a young kid was amazing, as you might imagine. I remember us heading from the hotel in Singapore towards the airport. Dad was saying that our next flight were gonna be on this huge airplane, like really huge. Two storys huge. At the airport, after all the security checks, I finally got to see her. In the darkness she stood by the gate and she really were huge. Standing straight infront of her node I couldn't see the top nor the bottom.
I forgot one of my stuffed animals on the fligth (I cried for days) and my parents joked for years that she might still be flying on it.
If I remember correctly she had reg 9V-SPB (picrel), which were scrapped/killed in 2019 :'(
Funny side note: we flew out in december of 2001. I think you might remember a certain terrorist attack involving a few planes just a few months earlier. The increased security was BRUTAL. At Heathrow they had armed guards everywhere, even in the toilets. I remembered they took my bag of candy to xray it, a bag I immediately fogot existed until my mom asked where it was halft an hour later lol. I still thank my parents to this day that they took us kids along on such a journey.
