>>1909309I think the industry likes and wants academy grads and that a degree/license from them is worth getting if you're going to really do this career. HOWEVER, fresh academy grads have a (usually deserved) reputation for being book smart and not street smart, so if you want to be well rounded (and you should), take every chance you get to gain practical experience, wherever you can find it. Fact you have existing experience in the navy is a plus imo. I'm guessing but I don't think the suicide thing will prevent you from getting in. Good luck anon, we need good people out here.
