Haven't taken a pic of any bikes since... last August>
>>2068521Are your rear dropouts funky?
Like, they're semi-horizontal, but there's a section at the back that's a separate hole?
>>2068310>rust and chipping paint?I used to paint over the bits with clear nail polish. Then I stopped bothering.
Kind of like, if you get a new bike, new phone, new car, etc. The first thing to do is purposefully put a scratch on it.
Get it over with, so you can stop worrying about it.
>hardware is rustingWhat kind of steel/finish? Chrome plated, stainless, 'black oxide', etc? There's techniques for all of them. Take a few pics & make a collage.
Maybe a year ago I wanted to reuse an old hub (Shimano), so I re-ground the cups/cones & parkerized the rest of it (axles, washers, conical springs, etc).
Can't remember if I posted pics, but I feel like I only post in "classic/vintage" threads.
>similar... simple like a fixie but with a free wheel and actual brakesGet an old road bike, and 'convert' it. Which is mostly removing shifting bits, maybe dealing with some spacers.
Check this out, the info hasn't really changed...

But I love those old Shimano levers, BL-1051 & similar. How narrow they are, feels perfect to me.
