DSM and diagnosticians needs to clamp down on some shit. Maybe rethink their whole approach.
Re-name real autism something jargony like
>Pervasive Language Delay and Ritual Compulsion DisorderThis is basically every child with severe autism who really needs insurance to cover services or they will never learn to say more than 20 words, use the toilet on their own, or other absolutely crucial skills for survival.
>Social learning disabilitySpecific diagnosis for those with poor joint attention, theory of mind, and deficits in social pragmatics of speech. This is for the people who don't thrive socially who just want to function better and need insurance to cover occasional therapy visits.
>Asperger'sBring this back as a special snowflake word for people who have ritualized compulsions, minor speech delays, and social learning disability. Eventually it'll become the fibromyalgia of diagnoses and will clue in clinicians that they've got an attention seeking asshole on their hands.
I'm just fucking sick of adults in high functioning "autistic" communities that try to eliminate speech and behavior therapy for non-verbal kids and replace it with music therapy, horse therapy, or whatever fad.
What Louis showed in his autism doc (at about 1:15 in clip)
https://youtu.be/sHRE_hrUkzU is what it looks like when actually autistic kids don't get good early intervention therapy or enough therapy. What is cute and harmless in a 3 year old is a nightmare when they hit puberty.
