It’s crazy how many shoe brands fuck up the pinky toe area and arch area. Being pretty shouldn’t be their first priority, especially with a shoe that is meant for the outdoors.
I need more room around the pinky toe area and I don’t need arch support. Whoever needs arch support should just get an insole with that type of support.

It's something you have to ease into but you can learn the correct form as an adult. Learning to run in sandals/barefoot/minimalist shoes helped me get rid of my knee pain.

Here's what I know about La Sportiva:
If you find a pair you really like buy several pairs because they will be discontinued.
I love mine.
Approach shoes are hands down the best footware for hiking where I live. I have a pair of black diamonds for summer and La' Sportiva for winter.

Does anyone make robust tabi socks suitable for hiking that are available in adult White man sizes and aren't $20/pair? I've found thin tabi socks, a Japanese workwear brand that doesn't make my size, Bedrock's custom Injinji tabi socks for $20/pair, and a number of product listings which are hard to assess without reviews by autists or holding the sock in person. I'd be more interested in the Injinji socks if their hiking-oriented five-toe socks didn't wear out too quickly to justify the price in my experience; it's possible the tabi socks are more robust since they don't need to put fabric between all of your toes but I doubt it since the wear area was the forefoot and heel. I'd also like to find a warm pair of over-the-calf tabi hiking socks for winter and Bedrock's Injinjis are shorter than that.

ive had the same dilemma as you.. all the tabi socks are way too small i find i cant even fit my big toe into its spot. ive opted for getting waterproof socks that are a few sizes too big and then letting the excess get cinched back by the sandal lace. its surprisingly not that unfomfortable

I did 5000km in one pair of shoes over a summer. This was the AT plus a bunch of smaller trails. They were cheap no-name brand shoes that I got for 40 bucks as well.

I bought some for hiking in my bedrocks, but the reason I hike in sandals to begin with is my magma hot feet, so I don't even use them in winter. when I tried, they just got soggy real fast and became uncomfortable.

Have Lunas and Bedrock. If you have to pick one get Bedrock. The strap system is way better and the shoe is more durable. Lunas are much softer though and take a lot more stress off my knees and back.
