Those micro breweries make thousands of gallons of alcohol A DAY.

Theres virtually no difference between distilling moonshine and ethanol.
If Billy Bob can distill a hundred gallons in a weekend from some hundred yearold still hidden in his barn then he can make 100 gallons of ethanol in the same time period.
Thats enough gasoline alternative to keep his Ram 1500 on the road for 2 months.

If that "Rattlesnake Pass" IPA hippy wanted to make ethanol instead of flavored piss he could turn his 5,000sq/ft warehouse beer setup into an ethanol refinery and supply his entire town with fuel.

My neighbor actually makes moonshine.

Ive made my own beer and wine.
You seem to think its some amazing technological feat.
Its not.
Its something thats been done by peasants for thousands of years. We have beer recipes from ancient Egypt and records of beer rations given to the workers building the pyramids. The vats they used to brew the beer at the pyramid sites have even been discovered during excavations.
Vodka can be traced back to the 8th century.

Moonshine is about a 3:1 production ratio. 100 gallons of mash will yield about 35 gallons of moonshine.

I have a 300 sq/ft cabin in the middle of a forest.
I can see deer, coyote, turkey, bobcat, rabbit and quail from my porch.

Thay was 2 days of salsa canning.
And we did about 250 quarts of green beans. Then just got tired of the summer heat and pulled the fence to leave the plants to the deer and rabbits.
Looking like a bumper crop for pecans this year. Might get about 800 pounds of nuts.
Not going to do walnuts because theyre a pain in the fucking ass and we still have some (should probably use pic related).
Peaches and pears got nailed from a late frost at full blossom so only had a handful of pears and zero peaches.
Apples did OK though. Quantity was high but high temps meant they were small due to lack of water.

So what did your 40 acres produce this year?

Just hook it to your mower and youre good to go.

One piece of advice-
They need smooth ground.
They won't pull nuts out of divets so if your field/yard isnt lawn grade id suggest getting the single hopper version (this one split in half)

There is. I've done it. Getting your hooch to 99,9% is far more effort then getting it to cask strength. And you need filters and shit. And you need fuel inputs. So part of the gallon of 99% you just produced has to go towards distilling the next batch. Or are you doing it over a wood fire and did you factor that into your "it's so easy" equation.

Actually, I want you to call me back when you've managed to run a tractor solely off ethanol you made yourself.

Ive actually ran an old generator off my neigjbors moonshine just because fuck it- wanted to see what would happen.
Got about an hour out of it until the quart of moonshine ran out.
Used that generator for 3 days non stop after hurricane Helene (on gasoline) with zero issues.

Doubt it. I don't really see a carb having enough room for adjustment to go from stochiometric gasoline to stochiometric ethanol, or anywhere near enough so it runs at all.

wtf? moonshine is ethanol? the way i used to do it was to hot boil it the first time, just to get it done. coal filter it, water it down to about 30-40% then sloow boil it the second time and just drip it through the coal filter before bottling it. never below 95% except the last bottle or so it might end up at 92% and by then its not worth it anymore you are exponentially boiling of more water than 'shine. the still i used would deliver 98% out of the tap at best but since ethanol is hygroscopic it will draw moisture from the athmosphere until it reaches equilibrium at 96%.

maybe if he's starting with a sugar wash and cutting it down to 40%, mathematically impossible otherwise. Nobody is fermenting a mash to 35% abv and nobody is distilling that 100% efficiently

I have chickens and ill get lucky on auction prices for Maran hatching eggs at the beginning of spring but over the course of the year its a net loss unless I spend time constantly hatching chics and raising them up for pallets (people love buying hens that just started laying).
At one point I was attaching the eggs that the hens lay to the crate at aucrtion and my darker olive eggers would consistently.pull in $50-$75 a piece to the yuppie crowd but it gets tiring and I have other things to do on Saturdays than hang out at the auction for 4 hours.
