>Wait around, we hear the helicopter, me and a friend expect to see the heli any moment.>They picked up the guys behind us from Mt Cloudmaker. >We are not alone.>They are without a doubt disappointed with hikers of today.>Helicopter noises disappear, all is peaceful once more.>Wait a while longer, hear the heli approaching.>Arm the flashlights, time to get them down here.>See them, flashlights on, we're excited for their arrival.>They pass over us and fly off.>Call from cops, ask if we saw.>Second time lucky, found us and landed at nearby creek / heath area similar to the one which we crossed.>Pick up our stuff and tear through the bush faster than two tractors and a thick chain ever could.>Get there, a mixture of happiness and disappointment.>Get on, all stuff secure, all is good.My god, that was the most beautiful view I've ever seen, flying over the Blue Mountains and Kanangra National Park, it's so beautiful.
>Why, why does failure have to be so wonderful.>Feel like shit for failing like that, but it's absolutely damn beautiful, the gullies, the valleys, the change of vegetation.>The ridges, the plateaus, wilderness for so large of an area. Untouched wonderland, a world secluded from the scourge of society.>It's so wonderful, yet disappointing that this is the cost of failing.>Head over to town, land in the middle of an oval.>Holy shit, there are a load of police cars waiting, and many officers as well.>As this oval is in the middle of a city and is surrounded by roads and little in between us and them, people decide to stop and get a load of this sight.>Holy shit, if there are any familiar faces around, we won't have anyone going hiking with us for a while, this is a path walked by our fellows (albeit with a very experienced guide), and to fail it is embarrassing.>Get going, get names and such collected, get escorted back home. Some proof of this.
