People who haven't traveled outside of 1st world countries don't realize how much plastic there is in the world, and 99% of it isn't in garbage dumps; it's in forests, riverbeds, pastures, schoolyards. That's one reason this trip was so special; I saw almost no garbage around the national park, and I was able to pick up everything I did see. Really made a difference experience-wise.
