>>1641458You should be able to find some decent priced knives in O1 and A2, both are a great mix of toughness and edge retention without being too hard to sharpen. D2 also makes for a fairly decent blade if its tempered right, it has wear resistance out the arse and can be hard to sharpen though: once its sharp it stays that way for a long, long time.
Stainless, 440C and N690 are usually reasonably priced, good wear resistance, edge holding and toughness- neither will be likely to corrode in all but the most horrific conditions
