>AvalanchesAt the minimum need to at least do a level 1 avalanche course before going out into the Backcountry. You should practice your companion rescue until you are fast and efficient at every step, and you should never stop learning. Remember, the run will always be there for another day, no turns are worth dying for, take pride in your ability to say 'no' to a slope and turn back.
>PartnersYou need a partner to get into the Backcountry, your partner is the person who will save you if you get caught in an avy, treewell, or just take a turn wrong a fuck up your knees. Try to find someone more experienced than you. Choose your partners wisely, they will affect your decision making.
>GearBackcountry skiing is a big cost upfront, but buying used can save you a lot of money. At the minimum you'll need a skis, touring specific boots and binding, skins, and a shovel/probe/beacon
>SkillsYou should at the very least be confident on blue terrain
