As you can see, it is just an old tote with some holes drilled and cut into it (used a spade wood bit and jigsaw) and half a 4 inch drainage pipe which I sanded with 40 grit sandpaper in the center so when the black soldier fly larva climb up it they won't slip down, but still won't be going up the sides since it is a bit slippery and not sanded.
I think I'll wrap it in some welded-fence wire to keep the wild animals out and place something to catch the larva as they fall out so the chickens can eat them. I'll probably just poke a hole in the chicken's yard fence and show the pipe through so I don't have to go inside every time I need to toss in more kitchen scraps.
I had a lot of fallen apples that were mostly rotted that I just tossed in.
