Camping on the Rio Grande, the other side of this mesquite patch is Mexico. got warned by a park ranger to keep my head out for immigrants crossing the border since there's no fence along the border there, but was told that i should be alright because " they don't like to cross in the summer because it's a five day walk through the desert to the nearest town and they'll die from heat/dehydration in the 105 degree desert floor, or its trying to sneak around farmer browns ranch and they know the ranchers will just shoot them."
woke up to a mountain lion screaming it head off at about 6 am, and some Mexican cowboys on horseback rolled up and asked me if i had seen their cows come through the area. Told them they went down near where the mountain lion was screaming.
