Kinda a natural brown with sparkles and normally darker stuff works better for me so that could be part of it.
Which reminds me I have some Culprit crawdads in a real similar natural 2-tone brown color and those have never gotten shit for me, but the same exact bait in "Bama Bug" which is a dark blue has worked really, really well.
