>>1175158Yes, that can be helpful. Merino wool is meme'd to death, but really does the job for moisture-wicking. You can also buy silk-liners to put inside your socks. As my /out/ activites are primarily long distance, multi-day hikes, my feet are always my biggest priority, but I can understand where this might not be the case for all people. I usually wear WP boots while hunting since I'll only be out for a day.
>>1176248The REI Flash is the best pad you can get for the price, in my opinion. It's insulated, and weighs 15 oz. My girlfriend actually has that one, I sill use my old Klymit Static V Insulated. I'll probably upgrade before my thru this spring.
The only tent I can really recommend is the Lightheart Solo, because its the only one I've used. 27oz. It requires hiking poles to be setup though, and its definitely more expensive than a lot of decent tents out there. I wouldn't consider it unless you're a very avid backpacker simply because of the price tag.
