Sleeping long term in a hammock is great way to end up with all kinds of spinal problems, not to mention circulatory issues.
Growing up if we wanted to avoid being dragged off by hyenas and shit in our sleep we'd make up simple tree beds, old trampoline mats were perfect, but hessian sacks or other mesh works too, cut a rectangular section out, sew the two long edges back on themselves so you could slide a pole in, brace width wise with whatever is handy and string it up.
Supportive, comfortable, an extremely safe place to keep your food whilst you were away from camp and doubled as a perfect stretcher or a means of carrying bulky items.
