>>258268>if you have your knife you have all the equipment you need to survive in the wildernessI pity people who actually believe this. I really do. Knives can't start a fire, treat water, store water, keep you warm, keep the rain off of you, or feed you. With skills and hard work, you can accomplish some of those things half-assedly with a knife, but who does this? Who is really going to be in a position where all they have to survive with is a knife? Literally no one, that's who. Not unless you actually try, would you ever find yourself naked in the wilderness with only a knife. My point is that because you have all this other gear, why do you want to forget about it just because there's a shiny knife glittering in front of your eyes?
>what if your pack gets dumped in a river? what if your pack rips open beyond repair? what if your GPS fails? well you still have your knife What if you lose your knife? The answer to all those questions is just don't be negligent with your gear. It's not difficult.
>you simply should not go into the wilderness without a knife, flat outSounds like a no true scotsman fallacy.
