>>2701541>Rock climbing is one of my main hobbies and a definite appeal of this type of workI always cringe when I get rock climbers in tower classes. There's a lot of differences in gear and processes to follow between the two. "Experienced rock climbers" are usually the ones making more mistakes than rookie tower hands. Had one dude who showed up to the tower site in those 5-toe sandals... I had to put a stop to that, closed-toe shoes and a helmet are requirements for my class. You want a certificate? Better find some shoes bruh.
>>2701541>job titles should I be searching for"Tower technician", "Communications technician", "RF field technician", LMR, microwave, wisp, backhaul... probably where i'd start.
It's a small industry. You need to get your foot in the door and name out there, start to build a reputation, before you're going to get anywhere. Cell carriers hire and train with no experience, but they'll work the snot out of you. Gov't jobs are vet-friendly, but there's politics that come with gov jobs.
Carry basic first-aid/CPR. Having a tower cert, even expired, with some experience is sufficient. Some co's look the other way on it, others are more by-the-book. Safety-minded attitude. OSHA 10 or 30 is a good one to pick up, and not too expensive.
Networking, both with people and with IP. Again, it's a really small industry.
>>2701546yup, i'm good at what I do and charge appropriately for my work, but even I haven't billed $500/hr yet. $120-350 depending on how technical the job is and how much I like you. Maybe tack on some extra fees if you're a cunt so you don't call me again.
