If you want to actually get trails built in your area join a local private volunteer group. The one in my state is pretty decent. In the last 10 years I made a mountain here with no access hikeable for people's grandmas and its become a rather popular spot. As an added bonus sometimes we get impossible-to-book backpacking itineraries and get to occasionally hike areas the state normally doesn't allow.
