>>27240you gotta scan the negs man. i'm well aware a print from a neg is not a 1-1 process but neither is a scan from a print. scanning from a print is like trying to reprint from a copied transparency or something, it doesn't work as well.
scanning is more like making a separate print. the scanner is going to make it's own choices in terms of what the highest and lowest brightness ,etc, are. when you use the print to scan you do not have all of the dynamic range avaliable that the negative has, so the scanner cannot give you as much leeway as you would normally.
