It's really fucking grim here in Bend. You don't know how bad things are until you watch the sagebrush fields and forests you played in as a child get torn down for a shitty golf course for san francisco boomers to play their stupid fucking game on and low density housing developments that cost $5 mil each. Homes values here have appreciated on average probably about 300% in the past 10 years. Apartment costs are not quite san francisco tier yet but we are rapidly approaching that stage. Housing is so expensive here that people have resorted to living in their cars parked off fire roads in the nearby forest. What results is massive piles of trash and abandoned vehicles everywhere that the forest service refuses to do anything about. The vast majority of the people who live here don't even go /out/ unless you consider driving for 20 minutes, then hiking 200 feet to get an insta pic at tumalo falls, newberry crater or elk lake to be /out/. I hate to have swallowed such a massive doompill but what is happening in this town now is the fate that will befall the entire PNW. It's only a matter of time.
