>>546216>They lost their way as a company a few years back.I agree. Leatherman replaced engineers with graphic designers.
Skeletool is a fine example of this. It's full of holes. The pliers are intentionally made weak by adding 'decorative' indentations. Even the knife blade has 3 holes in it that have no function, other than making the blade difficult to clean.
As an egineer this makes me sad. One time I had CS that i lost. I used the clip to attach it to by backpack and the clip opened by itself. Afterwards i read some reviews on amazon and learned a countless number of people had similar experiences. CS was ergonomically the worst tool I've had so I don't feel bad about losing that 'tool', but I feel bad for what Leatherman has turned into. What kind of company hires people who come up with something like CS? And don't they test their products at all?
Luckily this didn't stop me from buying ST300. This tool is something completely different, apparently designed by actual engineers.
My all time favourite multitool is Squirt P4, no longer in production. Highly recommended for anyone who goes out. Great for cleaning fingernails and generally for every little task where you would otherwise use your nails or teeth, like untieing knots. It weights less than 2 oz. I can't recommend its successor, the PS4. They removed the small screwdriver and the fingernail cleaning tool which was the best tool ever for cleaning fingernails and for untieing knots without damaging the cord/rope. They added scissors that are too small to be useful in any way.
