>>470178Yeah, hiking the AT is more a test of your bullheadedness than your outdoor skills I agree. I actually have a lot of back-country experience and found that I needed none of it for the AT. That isn't to say the AT is easy. It is by far the hardest and most grueling thing I've done in my entire life (as well as the most rewarding) but it is definitely not a survival experience. I even ended up sending my knife home because the only thing I was using it for was opening my pepperoni, so that should tell you something.
