>>2813585Yellowstone has a wide range of habitats- grasslands,forest, wetands, alpine tundra etc...but the in general, bushwacking is pretty easy depending on location. More often than not, I just follow game trails when I go off trail as the critters always know the most efficient way up or down a mnt. Sometimes you come to a blowdown that is hard to pass thru, or a marshy area with dense riparian shrubs etc...but a lot of YNP, especially in the northern part, is sage brush steppe which is a breeze to hike thru.
