>I'm mainly going to be riding on back roads and highwaysI love my Cross-Check for back road riding (cyclocross bike), but a decent hybrid would be good for that stuff too. If you're not racing you want something that can take wider tires, I'd say at least 32mm and ideally 37mm or more.
