>>2637738I actually have, lived there when I was super young and did Rainier and Adams this summer; I also bagged mailbox peak (for the meme), pyramid peak in the Olympics (my parents went there for honeymoon, easy day hike) and did the High Divide Loop in a day. I wouldn't want to go off trail in the Olympics or Northern Cascades but at least there is alpine where you can rock or snow hop. Even in the Hoh or northern cascades it is cold ferns, feels like everything down here in the south is laced with thorns and the bugs are atrocious. Rest of the West is not Washington. Oregon is mostly the same, alpine California is choose your own adventure except along the coast, and the alpine of most of the other states is fairly easy to go off trail, did that a ton in the collegetes in Colorado this summer because some of those trails are just retarded. absolutely love the freedom of choice out west.
