>>225797Yeah, but when you go to sleep on a clear night with inadequate shelter, you're making a bet that the weather will remain clear for the next 7-8 hours. You're betting your health and safety against nature, which has proven many times to be unpredictable.
When I go into the outdoors, I always try to "stack the cards" in my favor. Using inadequate shelter is definitely not stacking the cards in your favor. Any why do it? Sure, you can get away with a shitty tarp pitch on a clear night. You can get away with rolling yourself up in your tarp like a human taco if you want to. But is there any reason to except that you're a lazy bastard, or a stupid bastard who doesn't know how to use his gear correctly? A basic A-frame pitch will take you three minutes at most.
