Pic related are the ones I'm currently using (bought for 45 euros): I had to use pliers on the locks otherwise they would sometimes collapse on their own. I'm not sure how durable cork is, but foam isn't that great that's for sure (especially that one time when I dropped one of the pole in water, shit took forever to dry).
I don't trust carbon either and I sorta consider poles like additional limbs so whatever if they're a little bit heavier. I really liked the idea of being to adjust the height on the go but really, I just grab the foam under the grip when going up and I hold them like canes when going down.
I'm a dayhiker for now although I'd like to get into multi days hikes if I ever have the chance to.
