the kind of boots you posted is meant for construction workers. you can do casual hiking in them, but they are not safe to wear anywhere with ice.
if you live up north and go up in the mountains a lot or hike in the winter, you need a crampon and ice spikes compatible mountaineering boot.
its pretty much required you own boots like this where i live unless you stick to tourist trails. even in the summer if you're crossing one of the glaciers or going up one of the higher mountains.
