So I'm planning a week trip in an area high in Moose and Wolves.

I'm not too worried about wolves, they have plenty of food in this area and would have no reason to fuck with me unless I accidentally walk into their den or something.

But the idea of encountering moose scares me shitless. I grew up on a farm around horses and other large animals, I'm comfortable being around them but I always new if one tried attacking I'd be fucked.

What would be the minimal caliber to kill a moose charging me? I'd prefer handgun as to not effect packweight, is that reasonable or should I borrow a rifle?

If I don't have a gun and a moose attacks what should I do? You think a sharp stick would do much?
